Pale Black is a sci-fi / action, CGI animated series that is currently being produced to be released online. Each episode should be around 3-5 minutes long, and is release whenever....well...whenever they are finished.
The production team consists of only one person, and has zero funding. Basically, this is just me doing what I love: Computer graphics, science fiction, robots, robots with guns, aliens.....(Whoops! gotta stop before I give the whole story away.), and not worrying about meeting any expectations other than my own.
This blog will be a journal documenting the production process as well as any news and releases pertaining to Pale Black. I might also post some blurps about semi-related topics just to make things interesting.
For now, this blogspot site will be the home of Pale Black until I decide to get a proper hosting solution and domain name.
So what is it about?
The story of Pale Black follows the adventure of a robot onboard the seemingly deserted space station Oregon. While carrying out the orders from the station's AI administrator, he discover the crew are dead and he finds himself being hunted down by other murderous robots for reasons he doesn't know yet. Soon, he will find out that things are not as simple as it seems.
Why this madness?
I love computer animation and I do it for a living. Like many of my peers and those before me, we do what we do because we like to tell stories and express ourselves. Pale Black represents a tangible manifestation of that ambition, and an escape from my job that, mundane as it may be, helps me pay the bills.
Make no mistake, creating an animated series with any measure of quality without the support of a production team is a very daunting task. Daunting, but not impossible. Look at these one-man indie film productions such as Killer Bean Forever, Archon Defender and We Are The Strange. The talent and, more importantly, determination of these individuals have become a great inspiration for the CGI community and myself. If they can do it, why can't I?
